Mahila Shakti Bikash Kendra Nepal (MSBKN) was established as a non-profit organization in 2008 to promote women’s leadership and representation in public institutions in rural Nepal. It does so, through capacity building as well as lobbying and advocacy for equal representations of women to decision making positions in government and non-government sectors. The organization is dedicated to increase spirits of rural women to assert their socio-political rights. The organization is registered with the District Administration Office (reg no-888/064), Kathmandu and is also affiliated with the Social Welfare Council of Nepal (reg no-24598/064)
Its establishment coincides with an opportunity to collaborate with the McConnell Foundation, USA to work on issues facing the rural women of Nepal. This collaboration with the McConnell Foundation USA has enhanced MSBK Nepal’s understanding of issues facing rural women in Nepal and has improved its capacity to address these issues.
To date MSBKN has been working in 12 districts across Nepal. These districts consist of networks of volunteer women committed to the cause of MSBKN and are its valuable assets. The activities implemented by MSBKN have focused on socio-political and economic empowerment of poor rural women in Nepal. The empowerment activities consisted of training and exposure visits as well as support for income generation.
MSBKN has even gained experience in working with decade long conflict affected single women besides the program of capacity building of rural women. It worked with partner organizations nin Rukum,Rolpa and Kailali to re-establish the single women’s lives and to uplift their social, personal, financial condition and the condition of their families . And a significant portion of its activities is targeted towards the rural youth. It has been paying special attention to youth groups of women to develop them as socio-political change agents for social harmony in hinter-land of Nepal.
During this short span of its life, MSBKN is developing as a national NGO working for women's rights and empowerment. It has been playing special attention to youth groups of women to develop them as socio-political change agents in the hinter-land of Nepal. MSBKN now looks for more fruitful collaborations with like-minded international and national development agencies actively working in Nepal in the fields of empowering rural women, economically, socially and politically.

Program execution based on the research and assessment of targeted community's needs and aspirations and their commitments
